It is the best Qawali in the world . It is also first biggest and great acheivement of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. I like this. Real truth tell us in this Kalam. This Kalam have written from the core of the soul.

The first part of this kalaam, in Persian, is written by the great Amir Khusrow. The translator has, unfortunately, made a mistake in the reproduction of the actual kalaam and subsequently in the translation, presumably due to not knowing the Persian language. The correction is as follows:

Haideri-um, Qalander-um, Mast-um
Banda-e Murtaza-e Ali Hast-em
Peshava-e tamaam RindaaN-num
Ke sagg-e koo-e Sher-e YazdaaN-num

In this verse, the poet is speaking in first person, the subject being himself ( Amir Khusrow ) and NOT Imam Ali. He is not saying that Imam Ali is a generous monk as the translation erroneously states, but states that he himself is a slave of Ali. Therefore:

( I am a) Haideri
( I am a) Qalandar
(I am ) Mast ( in His love and devotion )

I am a slave of Murtaza, Ali
(I am the ) Leader of all who are drunk in His love
( Rind = drunk, madly in love, utterly devoted )
I am a dog of the Street of God’s Lion.
